The Pousada takes its name from the street where it is located, which, in turn, was named in honor of the Chilean fleet anchored in the port of Salvador in 1902. During the 1950s, this was the point of Salvador. On the mild afternoons of the time, important or not important people from the city of Salvador could be found there, as passers-by or spectators.

On the sidewalk of Livraria Civilização Brasileira, Bahian intellectuals exchanged ideas and appreciated the pretty girls who went to the tea house of the former Loja Duas Américas, at Casas Sloper or just did the jogging along the famous street.

From the windows, the view of Fort São Marcelo, created to protect the city from the Dutch and French invasions in the 17th century, and the Baía de Todos os Santos, with all its beauty.
